Bristol’s Willis Memorial Building

We turned Bristol’s Wills Memorial Building into a striking events space ready for the University of Bristol’s strategy launch.

The University of Bristol recently announced its future strategy at a ceremony within the city, which includes the creation of a multi-million pound second campus. Guests included students, alumni and a number of prestigious attendees such as Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees and Professor Hugh Brady.

In order to enable the Wills Memorial Building to host the speeches throughout the evening, we installed a 3m x 3m stage with an inkjet printed multicoloured backdrop. On this was the university lectern with our Audio Technica ES935 lectern mic kit running through a Yamaha QL1 mixing desk, which was plugged into the existing in-house PA. A simple yet effective six way lighting kit was used so the presenters could be seen on the stage. The event was also filmed using our Sony PXW160 HD camera, and we installed three of our Samsung 46” LED screens on K base stands for exhibitions around the hall.

We called upon Utopium to help illuminate the Wills Memorial Building by installing outdoor and indoor lighting. The exterior of the building was lit red using a mixture of Philips Colour Kinetics Colourreach RGB Wash Lights, SGM P-5s RGBW Wash Lights and SGM I-5’s RGBW Wash Lights. For the foyer area and stairs Utopium supplied a mixture of Prolights Smartbatt’s Wireless RGBW Uplighter, Chauvet WELL Fits RGBA Uplighter & SGM P-5’s RGBW Wash Lights, to illuminate the entrance area with multicoloured lights.
